Today’s release, Pete Tong Miami Part 1, you will need a heart rate monitor to help you control the levels you work to in this session, if you havent got one, the steps up to 90% will seem rather vague. We highly recommend training with HRM’s anyway and never more so than for a class like this, if you do have one, it will display your heart beat and it’s more than likely going to allow you to display the % of max. Heart Rate devices ask you for your age so that it can perform a simple calculation, 220 – your age = MAX heart beat. So if you’re 50, then your maximum is 170. Think of this, as a state you’ll rarely if ever achieve, and anyway, a spin class should NOT cause that. It’s extreme! We say, truly achieving 90% should leave you literally speechless, unable to talk, because you are working so hard, a massive effort. Be careful and be sure that 220 – age is right for you, it’s a guess, FACT! Use your heart rate monitor as a guide to push yourself but ultimately ENJOY your session, especially some of the amazing tunes today, have fun, let us know your thoughts on HRM too.
